This is life, the one you get, so go and have a ball, because the world doesn't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some, you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, my opening statement. Sit Ubu sit. Good Dog.

I got bored with the old profile.
I like music, how about you?

Came home yesterday for the first time in a while. I've had this song in my head for quite some time, so I recorded it as soon as I got home.

Uploaded last night. Listened to it this morning. Wasn't happy.

Uploaded again today. I'm happier.

Let the bashing begin.

Ok...

Worked for a while on this one...

Brought in some samples I have used before... but I added to them, and I did up some piano in FL along with Audacity, I am a cut and paste kind of guy... FL is nice, but I am old school.. and I am pretty good if I do say so myself..... Anyway, check it out... It's my way of saying, I love Coffee... hehehehe..

That's instrumental guitar stuff. Starts with some acoustic guitar, then some heavy distortion guitars follow...
Musical picture that I had some time ago...

I am re-posting this, since it went through internal sample rate conversion of bandamp.com player and sounds slower and lower, at least to say :)

Sudden Sunset

This is the end of the line (I'm sure!) Oh, what a journey this collab has taken. This is my baby! So it's ended up here:

Sudden Sunset (composed by WritersBlock)

ToastedGoat - guitars, vocals
swordfish - additional guitar (with the heavy effects on them)
PuppetXeno - electronic tracks, orchestration, audio edits, treatments, mixdown
JimkDaAdtman - bells concept
WritersBlock - original MIDI file still audible during the choruses

Listen, enjoy and vote!

Big Cheers to all who helped, suggested, commented, encourged and participated. This is an amazing experience for me to here this song become a full recording as it's something I'm unable to do. Thank you.

Hazy Eyes

You smash my heart with your words.
It won't break,
It won't break,
This anesthetic won't work,
It just hurts me.

I wish I knew where I came from,
I wish I knew where I'd been.

I don't,
Need you,
I don't,
Need you.

The lights are going down,
Look at us we're fading out,
It's beens good to have you,
That look across your face,
Distorted, crushed and hazy eyed,
Fuck your white lies.

You pull me back all the time,
I won't wait,
I won't wait,
You drag me down but I'll climb,
I won't fall down.

I wish I knew where I came from,
I wish I knew where I'd been.

I don't,
Need you,
I don't,
Need you.

The lights are going down,
Look at us we're fading out,
It's beens good to have you,
That look across your face,
Distorted, crushed and hazy eyed,
Fuck your white lies.

Look away,
And I'll be,
And I'll be there,
In front.

A Name Like Tobleron

It's "A Name Like Toblerone" it just wouldn't fit it all in.

I wrote aobut this woman down our hill who is like 30, but looks about 70. Sad sad story. So I wrote this song. Which probably has nothing to do with her, but was inspired by her.

VERSE 1:

Severed fingernails beneath the teeth she bites them with,
A silver bangle dangling from her wrist.
Knuckles white and hard from years of smoking cigarettes,
She doesn't have that long (I think you get the gist)

She's a sinker,
On a fishing wire.

VERSE 2:

She's this crooked little easel of a girl,
Clumps of hair they tear and fall about the place.
And when she smiles (which isn't often, and it takes a while)
It's like her lips against the grain of her face.

She's a sinker,
And she's cast away.

VERSE 3:

She has a name because her mother called her Toblerone,
She has a dog which she just calls Dog.
And when it yelps it coughs and splutters through the living room,
And wades its way into the niccotene fog.

She's a sinker,
She's a sinker,
She's a sinker,

And she's sinking down,

Here.

All That I Can Be

Well Here it is. The first track off my piano EP. (well actually the second, this is just the first I've uploaded)

The vocals were double tracked and recorded in my friend's flat using some pretty basic gear. The piano was recorded in a 300 year old chapel on a grand piano. Which had an extremely loud pedal but it's not too noticable thankfully.

My good friend Bella put double bass in a few of the tracks which sounds beautiful.

VERSE 1

I know all the things that people say I hear them everyday.
And I know all the things you like and dislike in me.
But I’m not ready for this kind of conversation where you break down,
What I am and what i wish that I could be.

I’m this passive little angel underneath it all,
But come across as something harder to digest, I guess.
When i’m older and i’m wiser I will know my weaker side,
But for now I’m young and bold enough with nothing here to hide.

CHORUS:

And I,
Had always been the same one there.
And I,
Am not the one who’s changed round here

X2

Didn’t you notice that?

VERSE 2

I’m aware of all remarks in absence of my presence,
I’m well informed of what i should and shouldn’t say.
And I have trouble with my foot and what I put it in,
I am walking I am moving but I only seem to stay.

I am sure I’ll never change i’ll probably always stay the same,
There’s nothing left I haven’t lost before that I can’t lose again.
So i’ll continue on my way before I go I’d like to say,
I’m only one man. With two hands. I’m all that I can be.

CHORUS:

OUTRO:

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

I’m only one man with two hands I’m all that I can be.
(Two hands I am all I can be)

She is up, She is down.
Why are you still here?
She is off, on a whim.
Why dya persevere?

Don't tell me,
You're in love.
Don't tell me,
You're in love.

Don't lose your head now honey,
I wont let ya.
Don't lose your head now honey,
I wont let ya.

God help ya, If you're in love.
(Well you're a fool in love. A fool in love)
God help ya, If you're in love.
(Well you're a fool in love. A fool in love)

Don't lose your head now honey,
I wont let ya.

Joint production of TritonKeyboarder and me! Produced in Germany in the beautiful Harz mountains, this is a song that we quickly put together and features some of the lovliest vintage equipment: there's an actual Rhodes in there, aswell as the portable Yamaha QY-10 which I brought along, and we used an Atari ST for midi sequencing.

We hope you enjoy!

I'm playing with a band now and it's really working out, playing the music I've always wanted to play, which is sweet, we function well as a three-piece.

Anyway, let me know what you think. It helps that the guitarist/singer is a sound engineer :) We're called Team Kerosin.

Please don't forget to vote/rate.

Thanking you very kindly in advance :)

Smoke

Writers Block: Music/Lyrics
Flyer7747: Vocals

Smoke

My heart's stone cold,
My lungs are gone,
My liver's failed,
Because my body's a chemical plant,
My teeth are black,
My skin is white,
My throat is rotting,

Chorus: (direct from verse)
The smoke will claim me through the night,
Surely I'll be alright,
But there's little doubt, that I'm over and out,
And I'm gonna lose the fight,
To the smoke,

My heart's on fire,
My one desire,
I can't go on,
Because me body's burning out,
I can't go on,
My spirit's failed,
I'm dead inside,

Chorus
(direct from verse)
The smoke will claim me through the night,
Surely I'll be alright,
But there's little doubt, that I'm over and out,
And I'm gonna lose the fight,
To the smoke,

Bridge:
No one's gonna save me from the smoke,
No one's gonna know,
No one's gonna save me when I choke,
From the torn up breath of my own,
No one's gonna save me from the smoke,
No one's gonna know,
No one's gonna save me when I choke,
Save me from the smoke,

My heart's stone cold,
My lungs are gone,
My liver's failed,
Because my body's a chemical plant,
My teeth are black,
My skin is white,
My throat is rotting,

Chorus
(direct from verse)
The smoke will claim me through the night,
Surely I'll be alright,
But there's little doubt, that I'm over and out,
And I'm gonna lose the fight,
To the smoke,

This was one of the first songs I recorded when I started home recording 7 or so years ago. It's gone through a lot of evolution over the years, I think this is the final version.

This was also the title track of a CD I released several years ago (though the version on that CD had not evolved into what the song has become, though the actual mix was better).

Of the songs that I've posted here, this is, if not my favorite, close to it.

Ghost Poem collab

‘Ghost Poem’ ; words by Writersblock, music/vox by MaxdB, inspired by PuppetXeno and Kings

The words upon the parchment, the letters on the page,
The monster in the basement, is locked inside the cage,

The cage is like a prizon, a cell within a cell,
The monster in the basement, is crying out for help,

A shadow of a shadow, a presence on the wall,
A scream becomes a whisper, when no-one hears the call,

The rain against the window, you're pressed against the floor,
A shadow of a footstep, creeps underneath the door,

The sound of muffled voices, the footsteps down the hall,
The ever lurking presence, The ear against the wall,

The thrashing of the thunder, that echoes in your ears,
The sound that makes you whimper, that plays upon your fears,

The dripping of some water, in the kitchen sink,
It isn't reassuring, it really makes you think,

The monster in the poem, that's written on the page,
That doesn't really murder, or fall into a rage

The words upon a poet, are words upon themselves,
They print themselves in hardback, they sit upon the shelves,

The fire in the corner, it creeps across the room,
And dances on the spines, of books foretelling doom,

The image of a portrait, hangs above the fire,
Most sinister of fathers, is nothing but a liar,

The frightening white of lightning, the flash across the sky,
The freshly painted message, that tells your time to die,

The window shatters inward, a rock lay on the floor,
The rain leaks through the ceiling, and seeps beneath the door,

The monster in your poem, is sharpening his knife,
The words etched in the paper, are soon to come to life,

Your heart is pounding quickly, your head is pounding slow,
The sound of echoed laughter, will follow where you go,

There is the sound of footsteps, a knocking at the door,
You fear the close attention, you don't want anymore,

The poem is completed, your stomach takes a turn,
The crumpled bit of paper, lay in the fire to burn.

If a poem is a poem, a song must be a song,
And if a song's a poem, then the poem's wrong,

I had to cut out some words to keep some space in the song

well this is my version... :)

Silhouettes

this is the last song made with my former band Undertow (later U-tow)
It's not fully finished recording, thats why in the end it gets a bit messy, as if it takes too long to reach the end.
One day maybe I finish that job.
Should I? tell me...
Or should I just forget about this song, tell me too!
But everytime i hear the intro I get excited..., later on i'm loosing enthiousasm.
Ofcourse i heard the slips in the mainsolo too, it wasn't a chromatic change :-)
If I'd play that solo again, I think I should get the wah-wah later on the solo back again.., don't you?

(Lyrics by Lawrence Payne, 2002)

* SILHOUETTES…

Going on & on…is all we’ve ever known…
Everyone knows the show…so famous yet unknown…
Whatever comes to mind…brings you the following lines…
Forever…Circular…Time…whatever the disguise…

Whatever needs a sign…or re-assuring inside…
Endeavour the peaceful guide…whatever comes to mind…
Mind’s showing where the shine will be glowing…

…& Going on & on…is all I’ve ever known…
Sometimes it all unfolds…
As contents knows container holds…
…What is known?…

How come the feeling don’t last for long?…
The precious moment turned to stone cold memory…
Oh, daily routine!…could your clouds agree…
…to do the Spacious-Silhouette-Pirouette way up high with me?…
Or would they float, wave goodbye, in an airy matter?…

…Out of the blue the wind whispers to you…
…Shine like a Sun…
…Shine like a Sun…
…Shine like a Sun/Son…

The day of digital is here!!!

Or at least I think it is, well, since I discovered Fruity Loops, it's been nothing but digital from this side of the world. Here you go, I wrote this one for my brother's online game, enjoy!

Train

The road. On the road you always feel calming effect of consistency in motion. The train, the most calming transport, with its monotone squeaking of the wheels. When it runs slow, it brings melancholy to one's state of mine; when it picks up the speed, everything looks on the brighter side.

Through the sounds of this composition, I attempted to convey the mood of a moving train and of a fast road. Imagine a very old steamer with very bright cars attached to it; it is very fast and very happy.

Sudden Sunset zwischenmix

Joining the ranks of those who have been uploading their versions of this song, here is mine. I made an overlay backing track containing drums, sequenced bass and extra plong synth, and added it to toastedgoat's version. This does not have bells or swordfish' guitar in there, as the toastedgoat upload with fishes guitar was, sadly, corrupted, and I could not use it.

I tried my best at mixing what I could, apparently overdid the mastering effects (it does not sound so well in mp3 form! missing the "body" that it has as .wav!), even so, with the vocals to the back and the guitars to the front it does achieve a certain "loudness" which I like.

This is far from finished! But everbody is uploading their premature versions, so am I!

Piano Therapy

This is... purely experimental (I want to raise some eyebrows with this one), make of this what you will. It's another digital track, this one was done on guitar pro, and the bass may be difficult to hear, but it's just for fun, playing around with a few riffs and melodies, chromatics, augmented and diminished chords. Enjoy!

P.S I might have another experimental one on here soon, done in a 5 / 4 time signature... I'll have fun working that out on FL...
